Oasis Community Church in Florida

Members of Oasis Community Church in Florida had a heart to reach out and make a difference in Africa. Beyond just raising money, they wanted to go and invest their lives in something bigger than themselves. God brought them into contact with Seeds of Hope and a life-changing partnership was formed. In October 2006, Seeds of Hope was excited to welcome a team of eight people from Oasis church to Zambia. The team was able to raise money for three wells and also brought over computers and supplies for our SHIP house in Ndola, hugely blessing our work in there. Seeds of Hope is excited to have Oasis Church on our SHIP team and we look forward to many future endeavors together!

Here's some thoughts from team leader Marcus Stern on the team's experience in Zambia: "As typical westerners we were geared up with our schedule and prepared to work ourselves to exhaustion. But God had different plans. We quickly discovered His desire to build lasting relationships and open our hearts to the continual work of His Kingdom in Zambia and throughout Africa. The entire team  at the SHIP house was so welcoming and service orientated-they made us feel right at home. After helping with sand filter installation we were able to minister to over 200 children at Mapalo Vineyard Christian Fellowship. Our journey into Machia allowed us the opportunity to witness the work of the drill team as they were drilling a well.  We also met the chief of the village and toured the school grounds. Later we conducted a service for over 150 children in the village. And just when we thought the night was over we ventured into the bush where we spent the night at a reserve on the bank of the Kafue river-it was wonderful! Our final night in Ndola was spent having a traditional Zambian dinner with about 40 of the SHIP staff and their spouses. Our last few days permitted us to visit Livingston and see the vast wildlife of Botswana on safari. We are so thankful that God allowed us to be part of the work.

Now, we are responsible for what we witnessed and join in prayer to see what our role is in this ministry partnership. We are grateful for the opportunity provided through Seeds of Hope. Zambia and its people hold a special place in our hearts.
